Description
A creamy and nutritious Middle Eastern dip made from chickpeas, perfect for gatherings and personal enjoyment.
Ingredients

- 2 cans (15 ounces each) of chickpeas, drained
- ⅓ cup of aquafaba
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- ¼ cup of cold water (add more as needed for desired consistency)
- ⅓ cup of tahini
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- ½ clove of garlic (or more to taste)
- ¾ teaspoon of salt
- ½ teaspoon of ground cumin (optional)
- 1 tablespoon of fresh parsley (chopped), for garnish
Instructions
- Reserve 2 tablespoons of chickpeas for garnish.
- In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, aquafaba, lemon juice, garlic, and salt. Blend for 3 minutes, scraping down the sides as needed.
- Add tahini, cumin, and cold water. Blend for another 2 minutes.
- Incorporate olive oil and a bit more water if necessary. Blend for another 2 minutes until smooth and creamy.
- Taste and adjust salt and consistency by adding more water if necessary.
- Spread the houmous on a plate or in a bowl. Use the back of a spoon to create a well in the center.
- Drizzle with olive oil, add reserved chickpeas, and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
Notes
For a creamier texture, blend longer and ensure chickpeas are well-drained and rinsed. Experiment with garlic and parsley to customize flavor.
