Ingredients
- Fresh sardines, cleaned
- Sliced mozzarella
- Sliced cherry tomatoes or regular tomatoes
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F).
- Place the sardines on the baking sheet, flesh side up.
- Add a slice of mozzarella and a slice of tomato on each sardine.
- Drizzle with olive oil, then season with salt and pepper.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and melted.
- Once out of the oven, add fresh basil for garnish.
Notes
For a creamier texture, mix a bit of fresh cream with the mozzarella. Using similarly sized sardines ensures even cooking.
